Product Description:
Make ice and chill, serve, and store foods all with one super efficient tool. The Fusionbrand IceOrb is the first vertical ice tray of its kind. The IceOrb will make 21 cubes of ice on its vertical wall and will store up to 51 cubes. Simply remove the inner bucket and fill the orb with water to the indicated fill line. Place bucket back in the orb (displacing the water), place lid on and pop into the freezer. Once frozen, again pull out the bucket, pop the ice cubes out of the wall and either use, or store inside the bucket. More ice cubes can be made at this time. The inside of the orb is airtight and odor free. The orb doubles as a wine bucket or as a serving vessel. Use it as a cooler to keep cold foods fresh while serving. It's great for ice cream or dips. The lid can be placed under the orb to catch condensation. Easy to clean, the orb is top-rack dishwasher safe.

White Mountain 6-qt. Electric Ice Cream Maker Review

White Mountain 6-qt. Electric Ice Cream MakerI bought one of these last year and it worked very well for the first three times, then the gears broke. It costs $149.00 for a new motor, which is What you have to buy because you can't get the gear assembly by itself. the motor is fine but of no use without the gears. By the way there out of replacement motors.

Deni 5111 Electric Ice-Cream Scoop with Nonstick Surface Review

Deni 5111 Electric Ice-Cream Scoop with Nonstick Surfacethis handy product eliminates the work of scooping hard ice cream or waiting for it to soften enough to easily scoop.Only problem is if there is a power failure. Of course if the power failure lasts long enough the ice creamwill be plenty soft !!! The construction appears to be of good quality and should last a long time. We are pleased with thispurchase.

Musso Stainless Steel Lussino Ice Cream Maker 1.5-qt. Review

Musso Stainless Steel Lussino Ice Cream Maker 1.5-qt.Since you're reading this, you're probably wondering if it's worth the extra money compared to a lot of the other home machines on the market. I've had mine for 4 months now, and I can tell you that this is the King, the Cadillac, the Ultimate home ice cream machine. It's absolutely worth the extra money, and I'd recommend it to anyone that's serious about their ice cream.

You probably already know that this model has a built-in freezer, so you don't have to pre-freeze a bowl for 24 hours or so before making a batch of ice cream. It'll happily make back-to-back batches if you want, and the extra freezing power makes incredibly smooth ice cream. Every batch I've made has been on par with Ben & Jerry's, my favorite ice cream up until buying this machine.

Unlike most other machines, everything is made of metal, including the dasher, so it feels extremely durable.

It also has a large see-through plastic cover that you can lift off to have full access to the ingredients moving inside, which makes adding things like nuts, candy, chocolate pieces, etc. very easy, instead of having to funnel them down a tiny chute and not really being able to see how the freezing is progressing. One of the fun things about this machine is being able to stand over it and watch as the liquid starts transforming into ice cream.

If you've read other reviews, you've probably heard people complain about a few things, so let me ease your mind:

Weight - it's 44 pounds, which I have no problem lifting up onto the counter.

Cleanup - because of the way it freezes, it uses a non-removable stainless steel bowl. Use a sponge with warm water, and you'll have it cleaned out in less than two minutes. It's a bit easier if you let the bowl warm back up to room temperature first, but if you're in a hurry to start another batch, you can do it right away also.

Ice Cream Extraction - use the specially-designed plastic spoon that comes with it, and you'll have no problem getting it all out, even in the curves along the bottom of the bowl where the spoon fits perfectly.I generally pull the dasher out first. If you do that, be careful not to drop ice cream down in the crevice around the dasher spindle -- my one and only complaint about the machine, I wish they'd covered that a bit better. Small issue though, I have no problem getting the ice cream out.

The description says it's a 1.5 quart machine, but plan on making batches that are roughly 1 quart or slightly more. Most of the recipes I've found are for this size anyway.

I store the ice cream in quart-sized plastic containers and then put them in the freezer for several hours to get the consistency of store-bought ice cream. (although several batches have been eaten right after coming out of the machine -- it makes a very stiff, soft-serve consistency)

I'd recommend starting with Ben & Jerry's Homemade Ice Cream & Dessert Book. The sweet cream base is a good first recipe to try, since it's used in so many other recipes, and is delicious even on its own.

I've had fantastic success with any recipe using nuts, chocolate, or candy pieces, which are all added in at the very end of the freezing process. My first batch of peach ice cream resulted in a great taste and consistency, but the chunks of peaches ended up freezing into ice chunks, which apparently is a common problem, especially with home machines where you're not using stabilizers like guar gum and carrageenan that help prevent iciness. The easy solution is to puree fruit in the blender first, and then you'll have no problem. I've also seen books such as The Complete Idiot's Guide to Homemade Ice Cream include gelatin in some of the recipes to help with this. Although I haven't tried that yet, I do recommend the book since it has a lot of great info about the different types of frozen desserts like gelato, sherbet, sorbet, and ices, all of which this machine can handle with no problem. If you do end up with an icy batch like this, put it in the blender with some milk and make a shake!

Generally a batch takes about 30 minutes, although I've occasionally let it go to about 35. After a couple of batches you'll know when it's finished just by watching it through the top. I've had a couple of batches such as New York Super Fudge Chunk, with a lot of add-ins, actually stop the machine, but from what I've read elsewhere, this doesn't seem to damage it. You can also hear the machine start to slow down slightly before this happens, so it's a good indicator that it's time to toss in the add-ins for the last minute or two before extracting it.

If you're serious about ice cream, this is the one. I've even seen it on TV a couple of times when they talk about high quality machines and ice cream classes. Happy freezing!

Chef's Choice 838 Waffle Cone Express Ice Cream Cone Maker Review

Chef's Choice 838 Waffle Cone Express Ice Cream Cone MakerI recently bought a really great ice cream machine and I happened to be browsing the internet and I saw this waffle cone maker. At first, I thought, "O.K., not another gadget!" but after reading several descriptions of the machine I decided to buy it.Thank God for going with my first mind!!This machine is incredible. After reading the brief instructions, I mixed up my batch of waffle cone mix (Chef's Choice) and set out on my adventure.Spraying a small amount of olive oil onto the heating pads (I always spray oil for the first time of each use) I poured my first coaster-sized amount of mix onto the machine; closed the lid and waited for the appropriate time to elapse. After opening the lid, out came this good smelling circular cone.Immediately, I lifted the cone using a rubber spatula; used the cone roller as indicated and Viola!!A great cone!!Not to mention the wonderful smell permeating my house!!
It took me two tries to get the right amount of mix to make the perfect cone.I had some of the mix slide out the sides of the machine...no problem, just wipe it off. When making your cone fold a small amount at the bottom before you begin rolling the cone; or pinch the bottom of the cone when rolling so that your ice cream will not come out at the end; or put some melted chocolate, butterscotch or caramel at the bottom and let it get hard...a tasty plug!!
The only thing I can think of that would make this one package complete is if the company would supply a rubber spatula, the towel (they mention using) or perhaps a pair of cotton gloves to help roll the cone...it is hot!!However, I really use just my hands.I get a better feel of the roller this way. And, please do not let these couple of items dissuade you from purchasing this machine. That would be terrible. We should all, hopefully, have a rubber spatula and towels!!
Cleaning the machine is a breeze. The non-stick heating pads are greatly appreciated.
I highly recommend this machine. What a great addition to any household that loves ice cream!!
Be Blessed!!

Rival 8804-BL 4-Quart Oval Ice Cream Bucket, Blue Review

Rival 8804-BL 4-Quart Oval Ice Cream Bucket, BlueWorks as advertised, makes fine ice cream.Instructions are brief and clear.Well-made for the price.About the size of a small wastebasket, fits easily into one side of a double sink.I think the size is an excellent compromise between the countertop units and the big churns.

The can is thin deep-drawn aluminum with no seams at the bottom to trap salt (like a soda can, but not nearly that thin).People have complained of it getting pinholes from corrosion during storage, but I think this must be from forgetting to rinse all salt from the bucket, or not drying can or bucket thoroughly.I would recommend storing the can upside down in the bucket so that any possible moisture/corrosion will be at the rim where it will do little harm, but the can will still be protected from dents.

The motor is silent but the gear train is noisy, because it's all spur gears. All gears but the final one are die-cast zinc, and the final looks like filled nylon or acetal. Gears and shafts are greased with white grease.I believe they should hold up nicely in home use.Motor is fan-cooled and has a self-resetting overheat protector.

All in all a good, lightweight but honest product that should last well if you get all the salt and moisture off after use.

Aroma AIC-204EM 4-Quart Wood-Barrel Ice-Cream Maker, Natural Wood Review

Aroma AIC-204EM 4-Quart Wood-Barrel Ice-Cream Maker, Natural WoodI was actually searching for other customer reviews in hopes of finding some helpful hints for this contraption. We purchased this product at Target about a year ago because we had relatives who had such good luck with their old fashioned crank-style ice cream churns. We liked the classic design and the electric mixing option. But we've had quite a bit of difficulty with this. The electric mixer seems to mix the cream too fast--often producing an almost "foamy" result. The crank method produces better results, but the crank mixing mechanism makes a lot of noise and doesn't work smoothly...and it takes a looong time for the ice cream to freeze (over 45 minutes for just a small batch--our salt/ice mixture tested 25 degrees).I was hoping I would find some positive reviews that would be helpful...but we bought a Cuisinart 2 qt. electric Ice Cream Maker tonight instead.:-(Anyone with positive experiences, please review as we'd be happy to dig this thing out and use it for company if we could know there was a way to get good ice cream in the end!Otherwise, I'm afraid that this product had a lot of potential, but is rather impractical--especially considering the fact that more user-friendly electric ice cream machines can be bought at a similar price.

White Mountain F64304-X 4-Quart Hand-Crank Ice Cream Freezer Review

White Mountain F64304-X 4-Quart Hand-Crank Ice Cream FreezerMy husband bought this ice cream maker for our anniversary present. We tried it out right away and made strawberry/oreo ice cream and it was delicious! The recipes included in the instruction manual surely rival Benand Jerry's!When he first brought the ice cream maker home I was worriedthat it would be noisy because you actually crank it by hand. However, once you get the ice all packed in inside, it is very quiet! It's notdifficult to crank and it only took us about 25 minutes from the time wepoured the recipe in until the time it was firm enough to eat and enjoy!Iwas impressed. The ice cream maker is also nice looking. It is a reddishbrown wood and it washes well inside.Once you are done making the icecream, you can transfer it into a container of your own, or you can justplace the inner container that comes with the ice cream maker directly intothe freezer. We have to transfer it into a tupperware because our freezeris too small. However, most normal refridgerator/freezers could hold theinner container.
I would definately recommend this product as way to makedelicious ice cream. It it a process that everyone in the family canparticipate in.My husband said he bought it because he had such greatmemories of his family making homemade icecream.I am certain thattradition will continue in our family now too!

Lello 4090 Gelato Pro Quart Ice Cream Maker Review

Lello 4090 Gelato Pro Quart Ice Cream MakerI have been making ice cream in a Cuisinart macine for years but I wanted to regain my freezer space from the 2 canisters I had to keep ready.. I also wanted to make good gelato since I can't go to Italy all the time. This machine delivers the real experience for both. It also can chill wine in just a few minutes. I had first bought the Lussino 4080 by Musso at about twice the price. It was terrible. Too soft right out of the machine and full of ice crystals when put in the freezer for any amount of time. It didn't get firm, it became a rock. I returned it and got the Lello Gelato Pro instead. It is quieter, has a washable bowl, weighs much less and makes a larger amount of ice cream. It's no contest. This machine is great

Cuisinart ICE-25 Classic Frozen Yogurt, Ice Cream & Sorbet Maker Review

Cuisinart ICE-25 Classic Frozen Yogurt, Ice Cream & Sorbet MakerThis design was given to me as a gift, replacing a Krups La Glaciere that had worked well for a few years before the coolant began leaking into the freezing chamber. In terms of freezing and mixing ability - the only real differences between ice cream makers at this low-end level - the Cuisinart works very well.In fact, it seems to hold its temperature longer than the Krups model, perhaps due to the extra bit of insulation afforded by "freezing chamber in bucket" design. Also, for those familiar with the Krups, the Cuisinart actually rotates the bucket rather than the dasher; odd at first, but it works fine, and allows for faster assembling of the component parts when you're starting the freezing process. The only (minor) complaint I have is that, if you are making a sizable batch, the ice cream frequently starts to pour over the top of the dasher as it expands, even if you follow the instructions for how high the freezing chamber should be filled. It doesn't spill out of the unit, however, and the freezing process doesn't seem to be significantly disturbed. In short - the Cuisinart is worth the buy, and will produce ice cream that's as good as your recipe allows.

Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker - 2 Qt Review

Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker - 2 QtThis is a fun product! You do need to freeze the bowl before use, so as long as you realize that, you should be good. And my first batch was the Vanilla Bean. It was/is to die for. Had I read the directions THOROUGHLY, I would have seen that this particular recipe requires the custard (which you make from scratch) is to be chilled thoroughly prior to mixing it in the machine. This recipe takes a little time but boy is it worth it!! I am sad that the other guy left a bad review for the machine when his beef was with the company's customer service before even ORDERING it. I like the first guy's idea of buying an extra freezer bowl (if you have the storage space). They include recipes for ritas, gelattos, slushies, floats, sorbet, etc. LOTS of fun!

Lello 4070 Gelato Junior Review

Lello 4070 Gelato JuniorI have gone through my share of ice cream makers.I have had the hand crank and electric version of the ice/salt mix and I had the Villaware ice cream maker available here on Amazon, sold it and my old icewater/salt type at a garage sale.None of them compares to the Lello Gelato Junior when it comes to convenience and ease of use.You just dump the ingredients in the little bucket, put the mixer/lid on and go.With other models you have to keep the bucket in the freezer or mess with an icewater/salt combination.Sure it might take some of the fun out of making your ice cream by eliminating the turning of the hand crank, but so does buying store bought ice cream or for that matter store bought butter.
The big plus with this model is that you can even dump in the ice cream mix while it is still warm off the stove (you have to cook a custard ice cream base).Just turn on the compressor a few minutes before you begin and it will start chilling the bucket.
You might be concerned about the noise this machine makes when running, don't be.It is quieter than a microwave running and by far quieter than almost every diswasher on the market.I would say it is louder than my Bosch dishwasher, but my Bosch is the quietest dishwasher you can get. You're not going to notice the noise from the Lello.

A note about their recipie for vanilla ice cream. When it recommends using a vanilla bean, do it.They are very expensive, like $8 a bean, and for good reason. It is the greatest vanilla ice cream you have ever had. The smell of fresh vanilla will forever blow your budget because you won't ever want to use vanilla extract for anything again. Save the rinds of the bean in a small tupperware bowl full of sugar, you can use it for baking or flavored coffee or something.

A few little things to note about this machine:
1. The opening for adding ingredients is small, m&m's are about the largest thing you can reasonably expect to put down the "chute"
2. The timer won't shut off the maker when it expires, just lets you know your ice cream is ready to eat.
3. It weights about 30 pounds or so.If you can't lift that amount easily without straining youself, leave it out on a counter somewhere.\
4. Unless you are the type of person who likes the sound of fingernails on a chalkboard, don't even think of using a metal utensil in the aluminum bowl, you will cringe like never before. Can you say chewing on tin foil with fillings in your teeth?
5. Keep excercising regularly, with this thing you are going to have lots of extra calories to burn.

Lello 4080 Musso Lussino 1.5-Quart Ice Cream Maker, Stainless Review

Lello 4080 Musso Lussino 1.5-Quart Ice Cream Maker, StainlessOur family loves this frozen dessert maker. We have used it at least onceevery night since it arrived 2 weeks ago. It's so simple to make adelicious frozen dessert with this machine, just mix up your ingredients(or you can just turn on the "churn" switch and have this machinemix it) and pour it in. 30-40 minutes later your dessert will be frozen toperfection.
The machine has a 60 minute timer which acts as a masteron/off and two buttons, one to "churn" (mix) and the other to"chill".I often start it just before we begin our meal so we'llhave a freshly made dessert when we're done.
This machine does anexcellent job of making frozen desserts. We've made perfect fresh lime, cantaloupe and blueberry sorbets as well as delicious smooth and creamy icecreams like Mocha, Chocolate and Honeydew Melon. Because this machine is soeasy to use, it allows you to be creative, often, and without the fuss ofice, salt or prefrozen bowls.
The 1-1/2 quart capacity is perfect for anaverage family, with some to spare, though for big parties you'd have tomake more then one batch. Of course multiple batches are no problem withthis machine and we've done 3-4 batches in a row more then a few times.Unfortunately since the bowl is not removable (the blades and cover are)you'll have to clean it out with a sponge and warm/soapy water betweenbatches of different flavors.
You will need to have a permanent space forit since it is heavy and not the type of appliance you'd want to move inand out of a cabinet. This machine is really beautiful too with itsstainless steel body/blade and eye appealing curves, it occupies aprominent spot in our home and has been a conversation piece. I consider ita practical "luxury" appliance.
This is a solid well builtmachine that should last a long time, my only concern is with the plasticcover, though it does seem sturdy enough. The plastic cover does howeverallow you to see your dessert while its being made, great for kids (andadults) anxious for dessert.
If your family loves frozen desserts as muchas ours does, this is the machine for you. I've been looking at it forawhile now, I'm so glad I decided to buy it.
