Progressive International Freezer Pop Maker Review

My daughter is allergic to food dye, and she can't eat a some brands of popsicles.We needed to make our own.I had the Lickity Sip, but had lost half the plastic "sticks".I didn't replace it with that one since I didn't want to search the yard looking for the plastic ones every time they ate outside. So, I wanted one that used wooden sticks. This is great. It makes a lot of pops at a time.You can't tell from the description or pictures, but the molds are all connected in a metal frame.Some people complained that the sticks get stuck, or popped up.I didn't have a problem with them popping up, so I don't pre-soak them.If they did pop up, I think I would put something on top to hold them down while freezing, a bag of frozen Veggies maybe.Others complained the stick holes were too small, I used a flat-head screwdriver to widen the holes a little.It worked great.Some have complained that they have to run it under water to loosen the Pops. I think thats true of any popsicle mold. I am very pleased with this product.It makes 8 Pops at a time, so I can make 4 each full size Pops for my 7-year old and 1/2 size ones for my 2-year old.

Rival Ice Cream Maker Bucket Review

This is the first time we have ever used an electric ice cream maker, so I have nothing to compare to.The motor keeps popping off when ice gets jammed around the can.I'm beginning to think the oval bucket is a bad design - there is no room for ice on the front or back, and that's where the ice gets jammed.Are we doing something wrong?

Play & Freeze(tm) MEGA Ice Cream Maker, 1 Qt. Review

This worked well, but not for kids. It was too heavy and all the adults ended up having to roll it. They also lost interest in about 10 minutes--which wasn't long enough to finish making the ice cream.
Since the first time we've used it, the adults roll it around (gently as it can leak if you're too rough). We know what we're in for, so it's not too bad.

I picked the big one as the reviews for the smaller one made it sound like the small one is difficult to clean.

Cleaning has been fine on this model. And the ice cream tastes pretty good!

Tupperware Ice Cream Sandwich Maker/Container Review

These are great little molds. They are perfect for the pre-bake cookie dough (12 count cookies). My husband made some pre-bake cookies with homemade ice cream and they came out awesome. They aren't "Chipwich" size. They are smaller, but were perfect for kids little hands. Real Tupperware and are no longer able to purchase on Tupperware website. I would recommend!

I bought this machine before any description or reviews were posted and hoped for the best.I was pleasantly surprised in what this machine can do.One trick to this machine though, is to definately freeze the liquid that you want to use in the machine first.Conveniently, this shaver comes with two round freezing containers which fit the shaver compartment exactly.I have tried shaving just plain ice first and then adding liquids, but because this machine generates snow, the snow tends to melt before you get a chance to enjoy it.If you freeze it first, the snow cones last a long time and are much better.All that you have to do is put ice into the shaving compartment and push down on the top.You do not have to push for very long or very hard and the entire ice block will be shaved.If you are looking for a manual snow cone machine, I would highly recommend this one as an inexpensive, reliable candidate.

Cuisinart ICE-45 Ice Cream Maker, Soft Serve Mix-it-In Review

We received this as a family Christmas gift.My son has severe nut allergies and we cannot buy much in the way of ice cream products from the store.Plus I love soft serve ice cream.So this has saved the day. We use it almost every night.We mix up the liquid when we make dinner.We put it in the refrigerator until dinner is ready.Then a few minutes into dinner I hop up insert the bowl and pour in the mixture.The only catch is the recipes in the booklet are way too much volume to get a proper consistency of ice cream. So we half all recipes and it it works great.We make the vanilla most often and use 1/2 cup 2% milk and 1 cup nonfat.The full fat version in the recipe book is yummy, but not appropriate (way too much fat) for our family given we have it for desert most nights. Approx. 20 minutes ice cream is done.We have done as much as a 3/4 recipe (3/4 cup 2% - 1 1/2 cup non fat)and it works.But that is the maximum you can use if you want it to freeze to a proper soft serve ice cream consistency. The lid also tends to pop up once the consistency gets thicker so we use one of my 5 lb weights to rest on top and keep the lid in place. The only draw back is if you have a bigger family (it is just the 3 of us) it doesn't make a bunch of ice cream relative quantity. This is a great machine. We all highly recommend it.

Back to Basics SIT10823 Ice Treats Electric Ice Shaver Review

I bought this machine at a big box retailer and I think it is worth what I paid for it which was 19.99. You can use your normal ice cubes (from the fridge or from trays) but it works best w/ the mold they give you, assuming you prefer a very very fine texture. The only bummer is that you only get 2 molds with the machine=( I do like that you don't have to use the snow cone holder and you can just place a cup or small bowl under the machine to save money on snow cone holders! I have only used this for one month about 2x a week and so far so good but we will see how long it lasts based on the the previous review. As a side note I have also tried this machine w/ frozen milk,soda and juice and it still works well. Have fun!

Lekue Silicone Ice Cube Tray, Star Review

These are the cutest ice trays. I have this one (the star ice cubes)and the penguin ice cubes. You get a really nice cute ice cubes. The star ice tray gives you a nice symmetrical star ice cube. The penguin ice cubes are not quite complete because they are flat on one side. One nice thing about the penguin ice cubes is they are rounded and don't hurt your fingers when you remove them. It is a little time consuming peeling the ice cubes out of the rubber trays. You will have to want to have shaped ice cubes. I am not sure either, how dishwasher safe these are. I think the one advantage of the star ice cubes that pushed the ball over the goal line for me on this purchase, and made it worthwhile having star ice cubes was this. The surface area of the ice is high compared to the volume. They just cool the drinks faster. It is great for martinis or margaritas on the rocks. You can't beat the star ice shape for a good quality drink. You will need several trays, if you are planning even a modest party, the ice stars are not that big.

Orka 4-Ice Pops Review

I had bought some cheaper ice pop molds and it drove me crazy trying to remove the popsicle - warm water, banging them on the counter, having the stick come out without the pop. My two year old would lose interest by the time I got the thing out, half melted and dripping. I thought I'd give these a try, even though I was bit skeptical about the claims of how easy they were to remove. But low and behold, I grabbed that little tab and the silicon peeled right off, leaving a perfectly frozen, molded ice pop - as pretty as one I'd buy at the store. Great product.

We have purchased several snow cone machines over the years and this is my favorite!!!Each Spring, I make snow cones for 4 classrooms full of children (over 100 children).Using the Hamilton Beach Icy Treats Maker, this has been our best year!Also, we often will do snowcones out in the driveway after school and we'll have a dozen or so kids stop by.

I purchased two of these machines and had them running side by side in the classroom.I was able to make snow cones for 25-30 kids in 20 minutes.I love the cup/bowl that catches the ice.If you have leftover ice or want to make ahead, you can throw this bowl in the freezer to use the shaved ice later.Also the easy on/off on this machine is nice.If you put in ice that is the right size (some store bought ice is too big), then there shouldn't be too much trouble with jamming.Once or twice I had to arrange the ice because a larger piece was stuck. I LOVE that most of this machine goes straight into the dishwasher!Also, seems very safe to me.The kindergarten class was running both machines and had no trouble!
