K-Tec Champ HP3 Professional Blender, Black (Now BlendTec) Review

I purchased this blender when my Kitchenaid's blender rubber clutch died. (Don't get me started on THAT issue ... another story.) I was hesitant to pay big bucks for a stinkin' blender, but after killing off several "best on the market" products, I figured it was worth the money to have something with the power to do what I want to do (things a blender SHOULD do for heaven's sake), and an eight-year warranty to boot.

My first thought after trying my new blender: whoa, this thing is LOUUUUUUDDDD!!!! My second: no way--it even grinds coffee?!!! I was impressed and wondered what it COULDN'T do.Would it clean my windows? Mow the lawn?

I tried a smoothy from rock hard frozen strawberries which would have put my Kitchenaid in the grave. It made the smoothest smoothie (not even a trace of a strawberry seed!) in seconds with no stopping and starting or having to shift the contents.

I remember how HEAVY and awkward my Kitchenaid was to lift and clean. The K-Tec jar is some kind of lightweight indestructible plastic (same as the ones you see at Starbucks) with the blade and metal parts permanently attached. There is nothing to take apart when cleaning, and the base is broader than other blenders so it is easy to get stuff out of it. The blade itself has only two arms (not four like most) which releases thicker foods easily.

After reading the manual, I am amazed at the capabilities of this thing beyond typical blender uses. I can also see that I will use it for more than smoothies and hummus. This one will stay out on the counter for sure.

And for you Kitchenaid owners who are frustrated with that rubber clutch thingie ... this one doesn't have one!

Nostalgia Electrics CCM-600 Full-Size Cotton-Candy Machine Review

Having had a passion for cotton candy since I think birth, I was goofing around one day and came across this machine, and bought it. It was super easy to put together, good thing cuz the instruction sheet is a rough picture (just use the hex head screws on the bottom, the round heads for the trays, put a washer on everything. Long bolts for wheels, short bolts on front legs 3 screws hold the dome on.). No tools required, they give you everything. Perfect, no parts left over... always a good thing! I plugged the thing in and turned it on empty and everything spun centered. I then poured in the sugar they give me, and turned it back on. Within 2-3 seconds here came the cotton candy and within 20 seconds my wife was gobbling hers down. The machine also came with cones and 2 flavors of sugar so your all set to play right away. Cleanup is super easy too! The bowl is coated so the sugar line falls right off and wipes right out, that's all there is to it, other than run all the sugar out of the spinner.
This machine will be allot of fun for many years! It came with an extra set of brushes for the motor, and another set of fuses too. I missed Halloween this year but next year I will start a new tradition for the kids. One down thing is making cotton candy smokes up the house a little, but it's happy sweet smoke, and although you can see it, it smells nice in here.

Maverick MIC-001 Ice Cream Shoppe Review

I had the chill bowl in the freezer for the recommended 12 hours.
After hour and a half of automatic mixing, I still had cold liquid cream mix, NOT icecream. There was no hint of solids. The motor smelled hot and the base was hot to the touch. Not happy customer.

Nostalgia Electrics RCM-605 Retro Series Cotton-Candy Machine Review

I'm totaly disapointed with this machine. It throws the unmelted sugar all over the kitchen, then the half melted sugar shoots out and sticks to the bowl. When it finaly gets hot enough to make cotton candy, there isn't much sugar left to make the cotton candy. If you add more sugar at this point, the shooting/spraying/throwing process starts all over! Also, make sure that you hold on to the machine while it is running. If you dont, the vibration is so bad that the machine will "walk" itself right off the table or counter.

KitchenAid KPFD200SS Pro Line Frozen Dessert Maker Review

Does everything as advertised, and does it well. This thing makes great home-made ice cream. The ability to modify the volume by varying the amount of the ice cream mix works, but takes some practice to get the desired result. Cleaning is very easy, which is a good thing, because it weighs 50 lbs and basically has to stay where you put it. I think it has only two caveats. This is a noisy piece of equiment, although, with some experience, the change in the noise as the ice cream get processed can indicate when its done. The second is that its a good idea to stock up on the gaskets it needs to keep the seals in the dispenser because they will wear out, although KitchenAid did provide an extra set in the box.

The first time I used it (and everytime after that)after about 3 min of blending it started to smell like burning plastic likeI was overusing the motor and it could possibly catch fire. nemox gelato chef 2500 Review

The Nemox Gelato Chef 2500 was highly rated in many reviews and at a price of over $850.00, I expected it to produce premium quality ice cream.I am a former chef and currently own a flavor manufacturing business which produces flavorings for ice cream and other desserts. I wanted a quality machine that would produce a premium ice cream for the sampling of my flavors at home.

The operating manual for the Nemox 2500 includes many recipes with every one showing a freeze time of 15 to 20 minutes.Following the recipes to the letter, it takes 45 minutes to an hour to freeze a batch. I've tried over a dozen recipes even incorporating stabilizers into the mix to aid in the creaminess and texture. I used fresh, quality ingredients and pre-chilled the ingredients overnight, along with the bowl and scraper. Still, the ice cream does not freeze to a firm state. All of the ice creams that were packed and placed in a freezer to fully harden had an icy texture when eaten. I am very disappointed with this machine. I've made much better ice cream from machines that cost much, much less.

Another thing that I was disappointed in was the noise that the machine generates. It's very loud! I thought I would be able to make fresh ice cream after dinner while enjoying a movie on television.It's so loud that it makes it difficult to watch anything while the machine is running. I now feel like its a waste of time to try and make good ice cream with this machine.I truly could not recommend it to anyone.
